Weight Loss Wednesday: Habits…

Isn’t it crazy how bad habits come back so easily? How one day you are easily accustomed to something good and by a few days or weeks later, you have once again slipped so easily back into a habit of something so bad.

That’s me. My life right now. I’ve become so entrenched into some bad habits again that I think it might take a small miracle to pull me out of them. Ok, maybe not a small miracle… but it sure feels that way sometimes.

They say it takes 40 days to form a new habit. I wonder if it takes the same to re-apply a habit that had once been held so close. One that without thinking was a part of you so much that you didn’t even have to think about doing it. It just came naturally.

The habits we form, whether they are food related, exercise related or maybe even setting a limit on how long one is on facebook or twitter, all become a part of who we are. What we believe. And also how others see us.

We have to make certain things priorities in our lives… including – for me – eating healthy, working out and tracking what I eat. I need to go to the store and buy things that I know will be beneficial to have around the house rather than simply things to mindlessly snack on.

So I’m going to try some new “techniques” for getting back to these good habits in the coming weeks… and if you have any suggestions to help me, I’d love to hear them.
